THE GENESIS

We owe our history to the spirit and know-how of our founders: Arthur and Harold Côté. In 1964, the two brothers, born in Maine, were called upon to develop their skills in one of the most famous spring factory in the world:  Connecticut Spring, based in Bristol, CT, USA. This is how Royal Springs' adventure begins.

1972

QUEBEC SPRING

A love story leads Arthur Côté to move to Quebec, in the small town of Montmagny. Sometime later, his brother Harold decides to settle there and a new page in history began.

Harold and Arthur Côté had been working with the Bombardier Company and noticed their engineering in spring design for snowmobile engines was not adequate. They saw this as an opportunity to put their know-how to work for the company as their aim was to take the industry’s springs engineering to the next level.

At that time, labor was affordable and subsidies were available.  In 1972 Arthur and Harold Côté founded QUEBEC SPRING, a company driven by family values. The gamble pays off, thanks to the innovative spirit and expertise of both brothers, Bombardier succeeded in breaking into the market, and became the world-class company that we know today.

RISING FROM THE ASHES

In 1980, a major fire destroys QUEBEC SPRINGS factory. Although deeply affected by this event, Harold decides to start over again and did everything possible to rebuild the factory.

1981

A UNION OF SKILLS IS BORN

In 1981, Sylvio Tanguay joins the Côté brothers. Having learned from one of the masters of the discipline Leslay Doyon (founder of Dayon Manufacturing, Bristol, CT and specialist in miniaturized springs). He brought with him a unique expertise, derived from his former work for two prestigious employers: Bistrol Spring and Arrow Manufacturing.

The Côté brothers’ expertise in design and calculus, as well as their service orientation, combined with Sylvio’s know-how in manufacturing and machine control, ensure the company quality and success.

Liberty Spring

Inspired by opposite visions for their company, the Côté brothers go their separate ways in 1986. Harold then founds Liberty Spring and puts forward the values dearest to his heart: service and quality.

Armed with his determination and his mastery of the discipline, Harold Côté succeeds in raising
Liberty Spring above the competition and turning it into a global market player.

1994

THE SUCCESSION IS UNDERWAY

Inspired by their fathers’ determination and know-how, Steven Côté and Alex Tanguay together became interested in the spring industry. Their drive and enthusiasm was infectious and they proudly joined Liberty Spring to now work side by side with their mentors as the generation of experience was passed on. Steven perfects his skills in customer service and engineering while Alex specializes in manufacturing.

ROYAL SPRINGS

Determined to perpetuate the family’s tradition and expertise, Alex Tanguay, backed up by his father Sylvio, founds Royal Springs in 2004.

In 2005, two major players join the team: Harold Côté, investor and mentor, and his son Steven, recognized for his technical mastery and his aptitude in raising the quality of customer service
.

In this way the four men have retained the international know-how of the past that has now shaped the identity of the company and transitioned its success to the present.
